And with this page, Chapter 1 is complete. Here we meet the horses. I was really worried about drawing horses well. I’m glad i was able to pull it off. In-fact they were much easier than the humans. Maybe for my next comic idea, i’ll have the main characters be horses. Hah, “SSW told from the perspective of the horses.” Love it!

Coming back to reality now, I’ve realized that i don’t have much written for Chapter 2, so I’ll spend most of this week writing the entire chapter and planning out a few of the next panels. Next week will be the Chapter 2 title splash page, so that’ll be fun. I went through a couple difficult weeks in chapter 1, where i kept altering my decisions because i didn’t plan it out well enough. I’ll make sure to minimize that from here, on out (how do you write out that expression?). I also wanna write out the entire “screenplay” within the next few months, just to solidify the story.

Now to address the question of how many chapters there are going to be. Of course i can’t answer that accurately until i’ve written the whole story, but I can ball-park it. In the original script breakdown of scenes (a.k.a. chapters), i had 20. Now, I’ve already cut one chapter out. Page 13 was gonna start chapter 2: “Nothing to Plot Against”. However, the events of chapter 1 went by too quick to be its own chapter so i merged 1 & 2. Now “Across The Mojave” is the new chapter 2. When this happened, I wen’t back to my original chapter breakdown, and decided to rehash it. So after losing everything that can’t stand to be it’s own chapter, I’m down to 15 chapters. But again, I won’t be sure until i cement the whole screenplay. I’ll be sure to announce it when I figure it out.
